WE’RE BACK!! Hamilton Park Summer League 18th Season!

Hamilton Park Fans!! We are so proud to announce that the Hamilton Park Summer League is officially back this Summer! We missed all of our fans and the Hamilton Park Community as it has been too long without you all. 2020 has been an unexpected year with the COVID-19 pandemic going on, forcing all activities to be on pause. However, we are feeling optimistic and look to bring back one of the best summer leagues in the Tri-State area while promoting a safe environment!

A couple of exciting news to share with you all: The Hamilton Park Summer League is anticipated to start on June 7th and finish on August 11th, with the rain date projected to be on August 12th. Jersey City Department of Recreation & Youth Development Director Lucinda McLaughlin has granted us the green light to allow the Hamilton Park League to happen. We would like to thank her and the City of Jersey City for making this happen!

New Change This Year: 30-Second Shot Clock is being implemented this year! For the first time this year, The Hamilton Park Summer League will be implementing a shot clock system, making the game much more competitive and fast-paced. We will be the first Boy’s High School Basketball summer league in the state of New Jersey to implement the shot clock system. We would like to thank the sponsors and referees who have donated to this great investment as this will benefit our teams and the game of basketball!

For the 18th season, the Hamilton Park Summer League will be dedicated to the great Tom Konchalski (January 8, 1947 – February 8 2021). Mr. Konchalski was a legendary high school basketball scout who dedicated his time recruiting high school basketball athletes and providing opportunities for young men to be successful. It is going to be a strange feeling not seeing Tom sitting on the sidelines with his pen and notepad. Tom Konchalski will always be remembered as a class-act individual and will always have a special place in our hearts here in the Hamilton Park community.

We are super excited to be back at beautiful Hamilton Park this Summer. For any teams that are interested in participating this summer, please reach out to us as soon as possible at hamiltonpark9@aol.com. Rosters are filling up fast, so do not wait until the last minute! Also, anyone that would like to sponsor or donate to the Hamilton Park Summer League, please send us an e-mail as well. We appreciate everyone who supports the Hamilton Park Summer League!! Please stay tuned in the upcoming weeks as more information and updates about the league will be posted on the website. We look forward to this year and being back with all of our fans at beautiful Hamilton Park! 🙂

In Loving Memory of Tom Konchalski

The Hamilton Park Summer League mourns the loss of Tom Konchalski. The news of Konchalski’s passing has shocked the Hamilton Park community and the basketball world entirely. Konchalski, 74, has dedicated his life to the game of basketball, spending 43 years scouting high school athletes locally and nationally.

A true class act, Konchalski has impacted the lives of everyone he met. For everyone that has crossed paths with him, his biggest gesture was his firm handshake and a loving smile, and he would always carry a pen and paper for note-taking. He would be on the sidelines, observing every little detail, scouting every player, and showed respect to each individual after the games. Konchalski would travel to every game he could possibly attend by local transportation. His dedication was unmatched and showed what basketball meant to him. His life and legacy will forever be remembered, and he will truly be missed.

The Hamilton Park Summer League and the entire basketball community sends their love and condolences to the Konchalski Family. Please check out some articles submitted by the New York Post and NJ.com about Konchalski’s life and legacy posted in the links below:

This season would have been our 18th season of the summer league, and we were looking forward to having all of our teams, fans, and supporters back for another summer. However, the safety of every individual is a priority. Although these are unprecedented times, things will return to normal at some point in time. Hamilton Park Summer League 18th Season!

We are approaching another season of some great competitive Boy’s High School Basketball at beautiful Hamilton Park! This league has been here for 17 years, and we are approaching our 18th year of the Hamilton Park Summer League. We are super excited to announce a new addition to this year’s summer league: a shot clock system! For the first time, the Hamilton Park Summer League will be implementing a regulating 30-second shot clock, with two shot clocks on the court. We will be the first Boy’s High School Basketball summer league in the state of New Jersey to be implementing a shot-clock system, making the game of basketball more interesting and much more fast-paced!

The Hamilton Park Summer League would like to address another area. There have been some questions and concerns about the start date of our 18th season of the Hamilton Park Summer League. We are anticipating to start the Hamilton Park Summer League on June 8th all the way up to August 12th being the Championship Game. Our main concern is everyone’s health and safety. With the recent COVID-19 pandemic, this has brought some speculation as to whether or not the Hamilton Park Summer League will happen or not.
